The Royal Holiday Foundation is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1987. Their mission is to provide low-cost, accessible vacations for adults and seniors on fixed incomes.They have served over 325,000 people across the United States and Canada, and their local affiliates now provide about 50,000 vacations each year.
Programs
Royal Holiday offers several different types of programs, including a program where they help people find rental homes during the holidays from November through January on an annual basis called “Holidays on Homes,” as well as an assistance program for lower-income families during Christmas time called “Holiday Heroes.” The organization also helps people with their travel arrangements by providing gift certificates that can be redeemed for airline tickets, hotel rooms, cruises, and rental cars. They also help people find lodging discounts by calling hotels and offering to refer clients to them.
History
In 1987, the Royal Holiday Foundation was founded by suburban parents who wanted to reward their children for winning sports or academic competitions but had no money to spend on a prize or didn’t have enough money to buy gifts for their children. The founder and his family started selling lottery tickets and giving them out as Christmas gifts around 1991.
