Frances F. Townsend has acted as corporate secretary, executive corporate affairs vice president, and chief compliance officer from March 2021 until the present. Functioning in this role, she was responsible for supervising public policy, government affairs, and communications involving other corporate functions.
Starting in October 2010 and ending December 2020, Ms. Townsend was involved with MacAndrews & Forbes Inc. MacAndrews & Forbes was a diversified holding company. When she left this position, she was general counsel, vice chairman, and chief administrative officer.
During the time frame from April 2009 until October 2010, Ms. Townsend was a Baker Botts LLP partner, a law firm. Before that, she performed duties as an assistant to President George Bush for counterterrorism, and from May of 2004 until January of 2008, she headed the U.S. Homeland Security Council.
Ms. Townsend was National Security Advisor at the deputy level for combatting terrorism and a Deputy Presidential Assistant from May of 2003 to May of the following year. Prior to this, Ms. Townsend was the U.S. Coast Guard intelligence division’s first assistant commandant. She also held various senior positions during her 13 years at the Department of Justice.
Ms. Townsend currently serves on the boards of the Trilateral Commission as well as the Council on Foreign Relations. Throughout the most recent five-year period, Ms. Townsend also served as director of SciPlay Corporation, Scientific Games Corporation, and the company of Western Union.
Ms. Townsend has significant legal, public policy, governmental, and regulatory experiences. She also has an exceptional history in security matters, strategic planning, intelligence, and domestic and international affairs. Additionally, Ms. Townsend has the necessary leadership experience gained through her senior roles in the U.S. government, including heading the U.S. Homeland Security Council. Ms. Townsend’s experience as a public board member increases her professional value.
Ms. Townsend is also on non-profit boards, including the Council on Foreign Relations and the Atlantic Council. She is also on the Independent Task Force on preparing for the Next Pandemic.
