Edgard Corona is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for Barcelona. He was originally spotted by a talent scout when playing for local side RGV Valdevez. He made his debut for the club in 2003, before leaving to join FC Porto in 2006. Edgard Corona spent six years with the Portuguese side before moving to Turkish giants Galatasaray on a free transfer.
In 2011, Corona was snapped up by Spanish side Barcelona, who he has played for ever since. The Brazilian’s consistent form has seen him become one of the club’s key players, and he has won four La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies during his time at Barça.
Born in the Maranhão state of Brazil, Edgard Corona was brought up in Valdevez, Portugal where he began his footballing career at local side RGV Valdevez. The midfielder played for the club for six years, before moving to FC Porto (on loan) and Galatasaray between 2008 and 2011. He has since established himself as one of Portuguese football’s most promising young players and is widely regarded as a key loss when Barcelona announced the signing of Brazilian superstar Neymar.
