Colcom Foundation has always been at the forefront of supporting environmental projects in southwestern Pennsylvania, in all the counties including Allegheny, Armstrong, Bedford, Butler, Cambria, Greene, Lawrence, Washington and many more. PennFuture promotes activism by protecting the air, water, and land mainly by empowering the community people to build sustainable projects and a better environment. Below are all the projects that Colcom Foundation supports in Pennsylvania:
The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy focuses on providing grants in form of short-term, zero-interest loans to parties and non-profit organizations looking to preserve any open space. Another program that focuses on conservation is the WeConservePA, which assists organizations and persons to conserve land, and restore waterways.
For all these efforts to become successful, The Allegheny Front covers all the environmental issues in western Pennsylvania, and possible solutions. This public radio program airs on WESA in Pittsburg. When it comes to legal matters, Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services, a non-profit law firm provides services to people that have been affected by any environmental issues. Colcom Foundation also supports research through the National Aviary, which hosts over 500 birds, including over 150 species from different parts of the world.
Tree Pittsburg focuses on restoration and protection of urban forests by advocating for tree planting and care, providing education and land conservation. The Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds protects preserves and restores water sources and watershed in different counties.
Lastly, the Pennsylvania Resources Council ensures all local resources are protected for the sake of future generations. They achieve this through environmental education, promoting recycling, and running anti-litter campaigns.
