Bernard is Zaxby’s CEO and Co-Founder of the company. In addition to his position at Zaxby’s, he has served as President of Retail Operations for Walgreens from 2006 to 2008. Bernard Acoca has experience in the food industry as he was with Duncan Hines Inc., where he led marketing, packaging, display design, and merchandising, among other responsibilities. He also served in positions of increasing responsibility at ConAgra Foods and Nestlé USA before becoming President of – the Snacks Division at Keebler Company in 2000.

Bernard was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 27, 1967. In 1983, he graduated from the University of Evansville with his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing. In 1991 he completed his Master’s in Business Administration from Florida State University. He then earned his Certified Marketing Executive designation from the American Marketing Association in 1994.

Bernard Acoca worked for ConAgra Foods from 1989 to 2000, where he gained various responsibilities in the marketing department. At the beginning of his career at ConAgra Foods, he was involved with multiple general merchandising duties, including major account management and product development activities. He later served as Vice President of the Supply Chain for three years before being named President of the Snacks Division in 2000. During his 14-year tenure with Keebler Company, he spent six years as Senior Vice President in charge of Global Sales, Marketing, and Distribution and Executive Vice President – Global Marketing & Innovation.

The Zaxby’s CEO has been a rapidly growing company seeking to be one of the top sandwich franchise companies. Acoca was the first CEO of Zaxby’s until 2007 when he became the chief executive officer of the parent company Great American Restaurants. In 2013, Bernard left Zaxby’s, where he worked as Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer. He had been serving as the CEO since 2005.
