The Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is a worldwide alliance of Christians passionate about preserving religious liberty and the sanctity of life, marriage, and family. We provide free legal representation and strategic training so Christians can effectively advocate these principles in public squares. Our mission is to advocate for the interests of Christians and educate the public about the importance of religious freedom.
Alliance Defending Freedom believe every life is created in God’s image and, therefore, sacred. Everyone should be treated with respect and dignity, regardless of age, race, gender, ability, disability, sexual orientation, or preference. Our vision is to live in a world where everyone can freely live out their faith without fear of government harassment or punishment. Our mission is to advocate for the interests of Christians and educate the public about the importance of religious freedom.
Alliance Defending Freedom have won victories everywhere—from forbidding discrimination in employment to securing the right to use crutches and wheelchairs, from protecting religious liberty to allowing women to participate fully in sports. We are the bridge connecting individuals with significant public policies—the kind of policies that will change lives, the kind that matters. Many Christian groups and leaders are in the country, but they are not united under one umbrella.
We are the only organization with a Unified Strategy, a Legal Defense Fund, and a National Network. We have 72 local chapters across the country—around the world—with more than 60,000 members. Through these local chapters and our cutting-edge outreach efforts, we work with grassroots activists to ensure their voices are heard in Washington, D.C., about issues that matter to them most.
