In 1994, a group of Christian leaders founded Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF). The organization advocates for the sanctity of life, parental rights, free speech, marriage and family by God’s design, and religious freedom. Today there’s no larger legal group worldwide fighting for those groups’ rights. They defend Muslims, Buddhists, or any other religious group’s right to exist and worship freely.
Alliance Defending Freedom has also played a big role in 74 Supreme Court legal victories defending the rights of pastors, pro-life pregnancy centers, a town council and family-owned businesses.
Supporting Diverse Viewpoints
The Alliance Defending Freedom fights for the freedom of religion for Jehovah’s Witnesses, Jews, Mormons, Muslims and people of no faiths. They also defend the rights of conservatives, liberals, libertarians, pro-lifers and people throughout the political and social spectrum. The Center for Academic Freedom, the Alliance Defending Freedom arm working on students’ free-speech rights on college campuses, have won more than 400 victories. The ADF defends people’s freedom and constitutional right to have different views and opinions and to express and debate them in public forums.
International Work
While many people are familiar with the group’s legal work defending Americans’ freedoms and constitutional rights, less of them are aware of the work they do around the world.
The legal advocacy work the Alliance Defending Freedom does internationally is welcomed, embraced and highly respected. The organization works alongside many partners in courts in countries all over the world.
The legal work done by the ADF is accredited by the Organization of American States, the European Parliament and the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The organization regularly works with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the European Union’s Agency for Fundamental Rights.
